I believe my little girl loves the
people
Who give heart and soul to the Singing Kettle
Almost as much as she does me
At times
I believe we all need routine
At some level
Tea in the morning, coffee, whatever
I believe it's the people you least expect
Who end up being your lifelong friends
I believe some people talk crap all day every day
I believe suicidal parents do not help
You deal with life
I believe rapists should have their offending organs removed
Though I am aware of the complications of punishment
I believe soap operas should be a phase you go through
That books, meditation and possibly
Ballroom dancing
May be the salvation of the human race
I believe politics has long since passed
The point of no return
Much like pop music
In these and many fields
It is time for a new era
A new age
Possibly even
A new page
We have read and seen and heard the
Same thing
Over
And over
And over
And we must agree
Enough image-heavy verse that says nothing
Enough art made with body parts
Enough crappy airport novels
For all our sakes
Enough airports
Enough Sunday supplement articles about the best
Garlic crusher
And how to look like a model
See-through
I despair
I swear
I swear some more
I believe I have become old and bitter
But bitter is better than many of the alternatives
And really just a cover for eternal optimism
I believe I do look on the bright side
Even if it doesn't always seem that way
