Running still

Like Brendan Foster in the 1970s
Like old Mel Gibson in gripping 'Gallipolli'
Like the heroes of Chariots of bloody Fire
We run

Like an old timer rushing a late waltz
Past our own personal, throbbing pain barrier
To a rhythm that feels just pushing bearable
We run

Because what else can we do that's good after all?
What more can we do to help ourselves?
We can move our legs, we can grit our teeth
We can run
