Lie back
Relax
Let words flow
Just so
Keep your rules
And tightening tools
For prose
And let it go
Full stops are so final
Colons heavy
Semis too
Let your ideas have a day off
A comma holiday
Stop doing precisely
That stuff you do
Write a poem
A really free verse
It can be anything
That's half the fun
Look at art
Look at music
Rules are bent now
Had their run
Try minimum punctuation
A liberating sensation
A literary abomination
It just depends on your view
Write a line that runs forever
Write a line that's just so
Short
Don't be fenced in by convention
Don't be worrying
Calculating
Caught
There's nothing terrible about tradition
But nothing wrong with wandering free
There's nothing sacred about poetic form
You can get bored of imagery
That's another thing that I would mention
The evil curse of perfect choice
Don't give the details all your attention
Don't use oil paints when you've a voice
Let your poems like your life be
Let them speak and sometimes go all wrong
Worry less about the cleverness
Worry more about the song
